How ClassifyIt Works

ClassifyIt adds a stamp button directly into the menu of the Office applications. When composing an email or working on a document, the user selects the appropriate classification from the ClassifyIt menu. The marking is then applied visibly to the document or email and stored as tamper-protected metadata — it cannot be changed or removed by the recipient.

Classifications are selected through a simple dropdown or a full selection form, depending on the complexity of your policy. Quick-select menus can be configured for the most commonly used markings.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Supported Classification Schemes

ClassifyIt supports any marking schema — simple or complex. Out of the box it works with:

• Commercial schemes (e.g. Public / Internal / Confidential / Secret)
• Traffic Light Protocol (TLP)
• EU and NATO classification markings
• Governmental markings including release and interoperability markings
• Any custom schema defined in your organisation's security policy

All markings are configured via a single JSON file, which can be stored on a web server, network share, or local drive — making central administration straightforward.

 

CryptIt

CryptIt integrates with the same Office applications and adds file and attachment encryption to your workflow. Three encryption modes are supported: standard (built-in keys), PIN-based (shared by phone or other out-of-band channel), and public-key encryption using the recipient's certificate. All modes use AES-256.

 

ClassifyIt Shell

ClassifyIt Shell extends Windows File Explorer to show classification icon overlays on files, and allows users to classify or inspect any file's classification directly — without opening the file in an Office application.
