Classification tells the reader how the information should be handled.

Originator · Level · Release

Connect people and information handling systems.

Human-readable markings support awareness. Machine-readable properties and email headers let appropriately configured DLP systems and mail gateways inspect classification information.

Ordinary Office properties can be changed or removed. CI-TDF provides a separate integrity verification mechanism for exported containers. Classification supports your organisation’s controls; it does not itself establish regulatory compliance.

New in ClassifyIt 7.0 · Microsoft Word

Classification at paragraph level.

One document can contain paragraphs with different sensitivities or release conditions. Version 7.0 introduces individual Word paragraph markings alongside the overall document classification, making that context visible next to the relevant text.

Compact iCLASS-style notation identifies the classification and, where configured, release information for each marked paragraph. The screenshot below uses sample text and a test policy.

Actual Word screenshot from the ClassifyIt 7.0 User Manual: compact paragraph markings including R-CYB, C-CYB,DEV and U appear in the left margin beside sample paragraphs, with an overall document marking above.
Proof of concept in Word: individual markings appear beside each paragraph, alongside the document-level marking. Actual screenshot from the v7.0 User Manual, using sample text and a test policy. Select the image to view it at full size.

Mark selected paragraphs

Apply an individual classification to selected text, or add markings to paragraphs that have not yet been classified.

Review and refresh

Clear selected paragraph markings or refresh their visible representation. Settings control how release codes are displayed.

Evaluate document classification

Test the policy-controlled calculation or verification of the overall document classification from its paragraph markings.

See the Word paragraph-marking commands

When the administrator enables the beta, paragraph-marking commands appear in the ClassifyIt menu. The test-policy menu below includes selection, refresh, document-classification and settings commands.
